Eifert Road between Holt and Willoughby: Started September 5, 2018, this road is undergoing recycling and asphalt resurfacing. Through traffic will be detoured per posted route (Holt, Washington, and Willoughby), local access will be maintained at all times from one end or the other per sequential moving closures. We anticipate paving to occur the week of September 17, 2018, dependent on weather and any other unforeseeable delays. Once paving is complete the detour will be lifted.
Columbia Road at the bridge over the Grand River (Between North and South Waverly Roads): Bridge work is substantially complete. An actuated yellow flasher system will be installed to assist drivers with identifying approaching traffic. That work is expected to occur in October with shoulder and/or lane closures (traffic regulator control) only; the bridge will remain open to through traffic.
Jolly Road between Dobie and Meridian Roads: Work on this project has been completed through first layer of asphalt. Second layer of asphalt, shoulders and other restoration is expected to be completed in fall 2018, see NOTE below. Signs are posted to indicate the road remains closed to through traffic, however traffic may access all destinations within the closure and may pass through when work is not occurring, however will need to use the posted detour route when work is occurring to reach destinations beyond the point at which work is occurring at a given time.
NOTE: Work has stopped on the Jolly Road project, Dobie to Meridian Roads, due to the current statewide labor dispute between contractors affiliated with the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association (MITA), which includes the contractors on the Jolly Road project, and construction equipment operators represented by the Operations Engineers Local 324 union. Future updates will be provided here when available.
